Baby Massage
Touch is recognised by many throughout the world as being vital to the development of babies. There are reports of babies who have been deprived of human touch suffering huge developmental delay and health problems.
Baby massage enhances the bond between a baby and his/her carer, developing a sense of security, trust and love. Massage can easily be carried out by dads, who may feel isolated following the arrival of a newborn baby, particularly where mum is breastfeeding.
Classes are suitable from birth up to when the baby begins to crawl.
Baby massage has huge benefits for both babies and parents:
- It assists the digestive system and can, therefore, reduce discomfort associated with wind, colic and constipation.
- It promotes relaxation, therefore improving the quality of sleep.
- It helps to ease congestion and 'snuffliness'.

Baby Yoga
Baby yoga offers babies movement combined with touch and is, therefore, the richest stimulation we can offer newborn babies. In classes, babies are encouraged to stretch, move and discover their own abilities and bodies. In one baby yoga session, the baby is given the same amount of physical activity as they would receive of they were handled and carried all day, helping them to sleep more deeply.
Classes are suitable for babies from 8 weeks of age up to crawling. They incorporate flowing postures, holding, movement, touch and deep relaxation. In the same way that yoga postures are calming for adults, they also bring a sense of deep contentment to babies.
Baby yoga has huge benefits for both babies and parents:
- The physical activity and sense of contentment arising from this promotes deep sleep.
- It can help baby to 'settle' more easily.
- It aids the digestive system and can, therefore, relieve discomfort associated with wind, colic and constipation.
- During yoga, all of the baby's bodily systems are stimulated, including the nervous system, therefore strengthening and aiding development.
- It helps parent and baby to get to know each other, enhancing communication between them and further developing their bond.
- The high quality interaction between parent and baby helps baby to interact with others and play actively.
